The Aug. 29 article, "DA seeks probe of judge's land deals," paints an incomplete picture of my involvement in Halfmoon Planning Board matters and could leave readers with inaccurate impressions.
In 2004, I was hired for one night to advise the board, if necessary, on general legal issues because Town Attorney Robert Chauvin was unavailable. I had no knowledge of any of the projects scheduled that evening, I was not consulted in any manner on any of the projects, nor did I render my opinion on any of the projects.
While the article states that, "The minutes of the meeting do not indicate that Serbalik disclosed he was Chauvin's business partner," the minutes of the meeting also substantiate the fact that I said nothing during that meeting.
As for the article's statement that I "did not respond to requests for comment," I had taken a few days' time off that week and could not be reached.
