It looks like we are headed to the Middle East once again. President Obama announced his intent to intervene in Syria. Sure, our intentions might be noble, but our actions have historically been inadequate to say the least.
Getting involved in the Middle East has already cost our nation billions of dollars. So why put our economy back on a track to destruction when we don't yet have a viable resolution to an international crisis? If we ever want our nation to recover from an unprecedented recession, I feel that we must have a period of isolation.
In modern times, we have been actively involved in prominent international issues to an extent that justifies our right to lie low for a short time. It has been hard enough to watch the value of our dollar plummet, rather than to see our situation degrade even further.
Yes, we may be able to suppress warfare in Syria, but only to allow the government to suck dry every American citizen at the end of the day. Let us worry about our own problems before rescuing yet another nation in turmoil.
