Producing ethanol has done serious environmental damage, but The Associated Press report you published doesn't mention the impact on the cost of food or the damage done to small engines like those found in lawn mowers, weed whackers, etc. ("Green energy plows into the prairies," Nov. 12).
Despite my use of a gas stabilizer additive designed to protect against ethanol damage, I have two engines that stopped working because of the ethanol added to gas. I fixed one and am trying to fix the second, but the repair is difficult. I'll bet that many people with this problem simply buy a new machine rather than paying to have th old one fixed.
