Schenectady police were wrong to break into Israel Torres' house and murder his dog ("Cops, courts and fire calls," Oct. 10).
Imagine if you had your door bashed down and numerous black-clad, shock trooper-looking individuals barged in and pointed weapons at you and your family. What do you think any dog or human reaction would be?
And just what is the claimed justification by the Schenectady police who carried out this vile action? They claim Mr. Torres was selling drugs. And, for this, law enforcement and the courts say he must be caged for years and his dog murdered.
With this being the kind of enforcement efforts the city, police and state carry out regularly, you can count me out as being a supporter of anything they do.
Further, any politician who supports this type of enforcement, and they are easily named, should be abandoned and denounced for enduring the crass violence they have brought on our communities.
