Gun control issues have been around for years. Yet, it took Gov. Andrew Cuomo only a few weeks to make legislation that sticks it to law-abiding gun owners. Does he actually think our children will be safer by clamping down on law-abiding gun owners?
In this legislation, a clip can hold no more than seven rounds, meaning some law enforcement weapons now are illegal. An empty clip can be changed in seconds, and seven shots is a lot for a good shot. Ultimately, it makes little sense to blame the gun. The gun problem does not stem from law-abiding gun owners; it comes from illegal guns our law enforcers can't get off the streets. If a person wants to get a gun, he or she will find a way.
That said, even law-abiding gun owners should be held responsible for the guns they own. All of their guns and ammunition should be locked in some kind of cabinet; and the gun owner has to be held responsible.
In the end, everything our government does is botched because the politicians' real goal is gaining re-election, not doing the right thing.
