A few years ago, a former CIA field agent named Valerie Plame Wilson was "outed." The press went apoplectic.

How could the Bush administration put this public servant in mortal danger? That was just the first of thousands of questions the press insisted be answered.

A few weeks ago, an American ambassador and three other Americans were killed in a terrorist attack in Benghazi. The press has been remarkably incurious.

What's going on here? Here's what: In the Plame matter, the press saw an opportunity to embarrass President George W. Bush and ran with it.
