I disagree with Frank S. Robinson's obsession with blaming the 47 percent of us for the fiscal cliff and his protecting the 1 percent of us from paying their fair share of taxes ("The fiscal cliff's whale of a tale," Dec. 11).
The election of 2012 was marked by a new and uncontrolled threat of corruption. Unleashed by the Supreme Court's notorious Citizens United decision, corporations and wealthy individuals poured billions of dollars into television and radio commercials. With elite donors unchecked by restrictions or accountability, the election was awash with dark money.
Challenges to the integrity of our democracy demand constant vigilance. Mr. Robinson has the opportunity to commit himself to democracy, justice, the rule of law and to helping President Barack Obama fix our broken election systems.
